Are You Under Attack?

Do you ever feel like you are under attack?  You don't feel like reading scripture, business is distracting you, your family life is unsettled, you have a physical flare-up, you generally feel discontented?    I have felt this many times, and realized that the enemy is around us all the time trying to stir things up and keep us distracted and discontented.  I am reminded of this after looking at yesterday's reading:

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are. 1 Peter 5:8-9 NLT

How to stand firm against him?  Wow, I am even having trouble making the font bold the way I want it in this post.  He doesn't even want me to share my faith journey with you.  Never forget that he is prowling around making trouble.  If you can't remember anything else, just give thanks to God for protecting you and for all your blessings.  Ask for protection from St. Michael, who is the warrior archangel who battles with satan and his minions.  The enemy doesn't want you to have a closer relationship with God and will do most anything to distract you.  Drag yourself to church, just repeat "Jesus" over and over, or just say, "Help me, Jesus" and He will!  Here is the remainder of that scripture verse:

In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen.  1 Peter 5:10-11 (when I tried to bold this last line, it wouldn't allow me to - more evidence!)
