Have You Lost Your Soul in Today's World?

With all the crazy things that go on in the world today, do you ever feel like you have lost your soul, who you really are, in your deep-down authentic place?

Maybe you feel like you have to be a certain way to get along, to succeed, or to survive.  Somewhere along the way, when you focus on the world - in your life or in business, you have lost your way.

Perhaps you are confused confused, uncertain, disconnected, and disillusioned.

I have been feeling all those things, because of the political climate, popular culture, and trying to figure out how to succeed in this crazy climate.  The politics sometimes makes my soul feel crushed, my peace definitely disturbed.

What goes on in popular culture distresses me.  How things have so changed in the past 60 years.  Boundaries have been crossed and all I can do is shake my head.

In business, it's all about how to make 6 or 7 figures.  What it takes to be a success can change who you are in your soul, deep down inside.  Anyway, that's what has been happening to me.  And I have heard it from others, too.

Yesterday, I read an scripture verse that really got my attention:

"And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world, but lose your own soul?  Is anything worth more than your soul?"  Matthew 16:26

It made me really think about the big picture.  How important are these things in the world that bother me, if the result is that I lose who I really am and lose my peace?  I think Jesus had it right.

The world can not give you the peace and fulfillment that we all want.  It can give you money and success, if you play the game right and buy into it.  But it can also change you and disturb you, if you let it.

I want to save my soul, to be who I really am, to live in peace.  And not let the world steal it.  How about you?

Take time to today to think about what you really want and feel deep down in your soul.  What is one thing you can do to disconnect from world thinking and exposure?

You can start by meditating on the scripture verse I mentioned, but taking 5 minutes to reflect on any scripture would be great.  Do you need to turn off the news, social media, podcasts?  Just take 5 minutes to be quiet.  Sometimes even that is challenging for me, but I am going to to do it.  Maybe 10 minutes.

Challenge what you are hearing from the world - is it really true?  Who is going to be an influencer in your life, someone who can help you be true to who you really are?  And encourage you to listen to your soul and not the world.

I'd love to hear are what you are going to do to change things up, to set aside the world and be true to what your soul really wants....  Leave me a comment.

Bye for now....
